United Renewable Energy® LLC is a privately held engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm developing photovoltaic farms and energy storage systems for utilities, industrial and commercial companies, Independent Power Producers, and Electrical Membership Cooperatives.

Founded in 2008 and headquartered just outside Atlanta in Alpharetta, Georgia, URE® is one of the fastest-growing solar energy contractors in the country. Our team is comprised of creative and solution-focused engineers, installers, electricians, project managers, and maintenance professionals.

Our Team

William Silva

President / SEO

William Silva is the CEO and co-founder of United Renewable Energy® LLC. Among the first NABCEP credentialed solar PV installers in the Southeast, Mr. Silva has been involved in solar project development and construction since 2006. He has built and developed hundreds of megawatts of solar PV projects, including the largest solar plus energy storage project in the Southeast USA.

Bill holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University at Buffalo and a master’s degree in Systems Engineering from George Mason University. His experience includes working on sensitive large scale projects for General Electric, Lockheed Martin, and SAIC. As a board member of the Georgia Solar Energy Industries Association, he believes true partnership between local utilities, governments, developers, business, people and sometimes sheep is required to develop great solar energy projects. Keith Herbs

Executive Vice President

Keith Herbs joined URE in 2010, and currently serves as the Executive Vice President. During his tenure at URE Keith has been directly involved in the development and/or construction of over 225 MW’s of installed solar. Prior to joining URE, he had years of experience in complex consultative sales positions, including roles working with the automotive companies and their supply base.

Amber Penland

Vice President of Operations

Amber Penland joined URE in 2014 as Director of Operations. Amber oversees URE’s operations including all facets of contract management, project execution, team leadership, and business operations. In this role she has overseen the design and delivery of over 250 MW’s of solar. Amber has leveraged her career managing operations in multiple industries.
